Celebrating the New Year

Reflections & Resolutions

My motto for this New Year is Reflections and Resolutions. Every year I make new resolutions and some are harder than others to follow. Bad habits are hard to break and starting new ones can be hard as well. Consistency is key. With the New Year approaching, reflect on the year that is ending.

Let’s celebrate the year that we lived and embrace the new one to come.

Whether you want to celebrate the new year with others or have a big party, take time to reflect on the year that is passing and walk into the new year ready with resolutions and plans.

This year I plan to bring in the new year a little more quiet than usual at home with my intimate family and food and good vibes. Although I do not plan to party hard, I still want to celebrate but in a more intentional and mindful way. A vision board party would be so fun but I truly am not in the mood to leave my home to get supplies. SO! I decided to do an easy questionnaire to think hard about what moments in 2024 were my best moments and what I plan to do in 2025. A few questions that came to mind were:

  • What are things that were enjoyed that you’d like to bring into 2025?
  • What are things that you want to improve?
  • What was your favorite month?

These reflections can provide insight on what you should bring into the new year and what you shouldn’t. Any time I celebrated the New Year I never really thought about my best moments and I feel that reflecting on the year you had can encourage you to do better or put into perspective the things that brought you joy. Being intentional about this thought process can be healing and get you ready for a fabulous year.

Whether you plan to celebrate alone, with a small group, or hosting a big party, use these questions to get your mind going and be intentional about what you are bringing into 2025 and what you are leaving behind. What you can improve and what habits you may have that no longer serve you any purpose.

Reflection and Resolution questions

  • My best moment in 2024 was _____________________________________
  • What made it great was __________________________________________
  • My worst moment in 2024 was ____________________________________
  • I turn my worst moment around in 2025 by _________________________
  • My resolutions for 2025 are _______________________________________
  • In 2025 I look forward to celebrating _______________________________

After you make your resolutions, plan the execution!

For example, In 2025 I want to work on my relationship with God.

  • I will go to Church every Sunday or watch the sermon online
  • I will use the Life Bible app to track my reading
  • Complete 1 book in the Bible per month
  • Create the habit to pray every morning, after my habit for that has improved, then add prayer for every meal and so on
  • I will set a reminder in March, June, September, December to follow track how well I am doing and if any adjustments to my plan need to be made

After you make a plan, set a reminder for quarterly reviews of yourself and your progress. I like to put a reminder in my calendar on my phone. This will help you track that progress and see if your resolution brings you joy, if you need to reassess the plan, if you are lacking in any aspect and so much more. Take the time to check up on yourself and find ways to be your best self! Let’s start 2025 with intention, a plan, and we can achieve anything through determination and persistence! What do you look forward to celebrating in 2025?
